We are raising funds to help Phil Hutchings pay his rent and bills in 2019, as we continue to apply for affordable housing. Phil has been diagnosed with Parkinson's and we want to support him during this time.
For those of you who don't know, Phil Hutchings is a long-time human rights and community activist. He was an organizer and leader with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and worked on the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Partychallenge to the all-white state delegation in 1964. In the Bay Area he has been a founding member of Causa Justa/Just Cause and BAJI, the Black Alliance for Just Immigration. He lives in Oakland’s Dimond district.
