Experience the history and culture of the area along the 14th street corridor and surrounding business designated by the City of Oakland as Black Arts Movement Business District. (BAMBD) Start with a guided tour of the historic African American Museum and Library and wander past a variety of small businesses to the Black Panther Museum, Joyce Gordon’s Gallery and Geoffrey’s Inner Circle (once the all-white men’s Athenian Nile Club). and a couple of bonus stops.
Meeting Location: African American Museum and Library, 659 14th Street (near Castro Street) No charge off street parking available at 678 14th Street, behind Valva Realty Co.
